    Fabric Storage ???

I have heard that storing fabric and projects in plastic totes is not good for fabric. Yet, I keep seeing advice to store fabric in plastic totes. What is the best way. I am trying to reorganize my stash. Thanks for the help.

I store my fabric is large plastic containers I get on sale at Staples. They are designed to store files. They stack easily water tight and easy to carry.

I use 62 and 84 liter models. Wait till they go on sale. I usually get 2 for 1.

Just be sure that you are able to lift the container when full they can get real heavy.

I have metal (heavy wire) shelf units. I fold large pieces of fabric around a ruler so that fabric is a uniform size. I store fat quarters in acid-free photo boxes. I use comic book boards (acid-free) for wrapping/storing odd- size pieces. I have scraps stored in small bins (for applique). I store the fabrics by color.
