    Monogram or Quilting First

I just need some advice please . I am making my daughter a Quilt for graduation I want to have her name and year graduated monogramed on the quilt but I also want it quilted at a shop which would I do first and would I only monogram her name on the blocks or blocks and batting
    Thank you

My first reaction would be to have it monogrammed first--treated as an embroidery design on the quilt-top without batting. Then the longarmer can quilt around it. Best of luck to you, congratulations on your daughter's graduation!

I agree with Renata. I embroider the name(s) on the fabric using the appropriate stabilizers and then cut the embroidered piece to the size needed for the quilt to piece into the quilt. Then you can quilt around it.

Agree with you guys. Better to embroider a name on fabric. Also, when you end your Quilt send us a picture.
