    Batting... which side goes up?

I can never remember which side of batting goes toward the backing for machine quilting. I buy batting by the yard off of a roll. It's an 80/20 not sure of the name brand. When on the roll are the wrong sides together and this is the side to face down?? I'm having a problem with pokies on a medium blue backing. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!.

I usually put the scrim side to the back, but I think that is not the recommended direction. B) I seldom have trouble with pokies though. It might be the batting itself. I'd like to see what others say about this.

. If you are having pokies with the 80/20 batting, your needle may be too large or just dull. I have found that the polyester batting leaves pokies the most.
