    Trapunto over seams

    Hello everyone,

I have a top that I keep thinking about trying trapunto on. Unfortunately there's a seam down the middle of the space where the trapunto would go.

Does anyone know if this matters or will have an undesirable effect on the trapunto and I should just quilt instead?

    Thanks

I've only trapuntoed on wholecloth quilts, but I don't see where a seam would make a difference unless you had a stretchy fabric on one side and a non-stretchy fabric on the other. If you have some scraps of the fabrics or some with similar hand, you could seam them together a do a small test.

Yes, you can trapunto on pieced seams. Here is a link to a blog showing a quilt that she used trapunto on:

      I'd go for it!
