    Wrong glue-what to do?

I made a horrible mistake. I ordered a couple of bottle of Elmer's Washable glue. Tonight I grabbed a bottle and started gluing the backing fabric to the polyester bat. About half way through, I thought this glue is acting kind of odd...it wasn't washable glue. It was permanent glue and I didn't check the order when it was delivered. Nothing had dried yet and was still quite wet, so I pulled the backing off the bat and put it in the washing machine. Now I'm waiting for it to dry. Hopefully, the glue will have washed out, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see. ugh. I don't think I'll put it in the dryer. I think I'll throw away the bat. It was on sale so not so costly to dump it. Has anyone else done this?

No I have not, but it's an excellent cautionary reminder for all of us. It sounds like you have saved your quilt at least.

The glue completely washed out of the fabric. I credit that to the fact that it was still wet when I threw it in the washing machine. The batting is toast. Where the glue is, it's just hard little bits of dried glue. I'll just throw that out!

Would you not use 505 basting spray to attach the quilt back to the batting? Glad you got the glue out of the quilt back and that it was not the front.

505 Spray Adhesive is a better choice for gluing a quilt sandwich together than any liquid glue.

Did anyone watch the Pam Kitty tree skirt video? I noticed she used the Elmer's Glue All. I would think that was a mistake, but maybe not. Has anyone else used the glue all?

I've used a Spray Adhesive in the past, but I just can't get the knack of it and end up with a mess. Covering the carpet so that the over spray did not get on it was a hassle too. I tried the Elmers Washable Glue on my last quilt, and I loved it as it was easier to control where the glue goes and it washed right out as well.
