Hey Charae! Where's your Holiday Lights quilt? Have you decided on colors yet?

BTW, I can now pronounce myself officially a quilter! Yesterday, for the first time, I sliced my finger with the rotary cutter... :x ops: Not bad for almost four years Bandaid-free. Did it while cutting up the 1" half-square triangles for the Holiday Lights border... ouch! and still ouch, today!

Sorry about your finger!! I have yet to become an official quilter.... (Hopefully, I never will be!!)

I've always been so careful... I was trying to cut on the line of the Brenda Henning triangulations papers and took off my glasses to line up the smaller pieces exactly, but had to get up real close with my face to see the line and I guess I just did not "see" how close my finger was to the ruler... and the blade. Won't do that again! Thanks, Nancy, you're a brilliant quilter instead, I'm just a quilter now...

Eek! Nancy! My fingers went into sympathy spasms when I read your post! So, regarding your question about my Holiday Lights Quilt, when last I left you I didn't have tree trunk fabric in my stash. So, after a not so quick trip to the Pacific International Quilt Show on Sunday I am happy to report the trunk fabric was located along with (mumble, mumble) some other "I can't believe I don't have this"
fabric. In answer to your question, I've taken more time shopping for fabric than sewing, BUT there is a weekend coming up! Hopefully, I'll have some better news on Monday!

I beg to differ! You are a brilliant quilter! You can't fool us!! We've all seen what you can do!

Nancy, Nancy! You know how to make me blush! ops: I'm getting better as I practice but it still takes me forever to get anything done and there's no comparison to your quilting!

Charae, sorry, you weren't reading Nancy's posting about finger-slicing, I was the culprit... but I was back at my HSTs within the hour. Thank you for your sympathy--no spasms, please! You're making me relive the moment!  So happy you found your tree-trunk fabric and that the weekend is almost here for you to be able to get some sewing done. Can't even begin to imagine what "I can't believe I don't have this fabric" looks like!

Renata, Renata~ I knew I was reading your post. I don't know why I said "Nancy" or why I felt it was necessary to get her involved in the slicing and dicing. I also knew I was responding to your Holiday Lights question. Sorry ops: I was answering too quickly. I really should proof read, or at least preview, before I hit submit. Also I should explain the "can't believe I don't have this fabric" comment...it's not that I own all the fabric ever retailed... it just feels like I have quite enough, but then I see something else eye-catching!

Charae, I was just hoping you'd show a picture of your most recent acquisitions whenever you get the chance!

Renata, you have my full sympathy! I am sporting a very impressive rotary cutter scar across the top of my left thumb. I did that when I only had my rotary cutter for about three or four weeks. Somehow I don't think that made me a quilter. But if rotary cutter scares are a kind of quilters' initiation rite, then I passed with flying colours (and lots of dripping red stuff at the time).

Thanks, Lorchen. I changed the bandaid (plaster) today and to my dismay my fingertip still has a deep cut that hasn't sealed up... I hope I get my index finger back!

Renata, Maybe you need stitches. This doesn't sound good. Take good care of those fingers. They have important work to do.

Thank you, Lois. Doctor in the house says it will heal without stitches.
