Removing Fusible Web from Quilt Top

I received my guild Round Robin back at our May meeting. I love it all but.... the appliquéd circles. Are you with me?



The circles are hand stitched on so I thought I'd just remove them. They crinkle. :?: So I took one off and it was fused on (sort of, it came right off) and then stitched. The paper was still inside. I'm so confused!!! :P Now I have fusible residue on the quilt top.

Any tips on how to remove the fusible from the quilt top?

Is it fusible, or it 505 Spray? I ask because I have used the spray when appliqueing and it will make a difference in removal.

I think it is a fusible since the paper was still inside the appliqué and it is more like a covering than just a spray.

Maybe you can just put an applique you like over it if you can't get it out.

How about stars to echo the centre star - if you have more of those fabrics?

As I recall ther is another post somewhere in Forum that says to put aluminum foil over the web and heat with an iron and the fusible will adhere to the foil.
As I recall i tested it and it worked.

Oh good Pam! Thanks! I did a search of the forums but hard to find this as fusible web comes up often here. I'll try the foil tomorrow.

Not all fusible web is created equal. Some is more permanent than others so whatever you do go cautiously in order to not create damage. Lots of fusibles will remove with heat but had it been Steam a Seam you could have been stuck with the circles, not just the fusible glue part. I found with Steam A Seam 2 the only fix was to "mend" over the boo boo with a new applique.

Ack! And I love SaS2. Hmmm... The circle came off EASILY... so much that I was surprised there was fusible. Well, I guess b/c she left the paper inside, the fusible peeled right off the paper. LOL!
