    Magazine Question

If you could only choose two magazines, other than The Quilt Life(obviously), what would it be? I'm paring down my subscriptions but it's so hard to give any of them up

Eileen, as a fellow long-armer, I can't give up my subscriptions to Machine Quilting Unlimited http://www.mqumag.com/home/
    or On Track http://www.imqa.org/OnTrack.htm.

I'd like to add "Quilt Life" and "Fabrications" (a UK magazine).

In addition to "Quilt Life" I also love "Machine Quilting Unlimited" even though I am NOT a long armer. It has wonderful articles with concepts and articles that translate well to domestic machine quilting and just in general quilt making.

Fons and Porter: Love of Quilting. My favorite! You get your money's worth with this magazine.

Does anyone get the digital copy of The Quilt Life? I am considering it this year as it would cost 1/2 the price because I wouldn't have to have pay for an international subscription.

I have given up all my subscriptions... I got ticked at Fons and Porter / Mc Calls because they keep hounding me to renew... I also do not like the million and one invitation renewals that get mailed to me... Now I am getting unsolicitate DVDs ...

I have NO shelving / rooms to put any more magazines. I started tearing out patterns/ articles I liked and found out I was tossing over half to 3/ 4 of the magazines away... Why do I want to pay for ads and useless information. I also got mad when I realize that in one month last year there were 10 patterns for monkey wrench quilts in the magazines I got for that month. That was when I decided I no longer wanted or needed the magazines.

I did like Quilter's Home til it got repeative after Mark left .... I want quilting in my quilting magazines and do not care for high fat laden and alcholic drink recipes. I have enough trouble with that on my own.

I just stopped buying all magazines for now. I have a HUGE LIBRARY of quilt books and even if I made one quilt from each book I would still not live long enough to do it..... SO I AM ON A MAGAZINE DIET.

Quilt Life and Machine Quilting Unlimited are two that I enjoy. I still like Quilter's Home b/c of the evaluation of products and the reader feedback about things. But in the end, they mostly all just sit on my shelves.

I subscribe to the digital issues and find it works very well. I chose this for the same reason as you. I'm tired of paying so much extra just because I don't live in the USA.

Thanks Zarah. Good to know that the digital edition is okay. I am just so used to holding the paper in my hands but this would save money and I also would not have to find a place to keep it.

I'd never give up The Quilt Life, On Track or MQU! Plus, I like the feel of the pages in my hands. I don't have an ereader (yet) but I think that will come soon due to the pain in my hands.
I find it interesting that most of the people who voted like the more traditional magazines, as do I.
Anyone else want to chime in?

Same thing with the newspaper. I do read it on-line 3 days a week, but there is nothing like sitting with it in front of you and flipping the pages and skimming!

I briefly considered tryig to save the cost of international shipping, but like many, I like to have a magazine in my hand. Scrolling the pc too much makes my eyes hurt as well.

Only two more days to vote! There are over 70,000 members and only 78 have voted so far. Hmm.............................

Hi Eileen, I subscribe to several quilt magazines because it was cheaper than buying them at the store -- when I can even find them there (no place close to us). I like Quilter's Newsletter for the articles, the American Quilt Society's magazine for more arty techniques, and McCalls, F&P, and American Patchwork for patterns, which I mostly don't make, but like looking at anyhow. I also subscribe to Quilter's Home, and of course, Quilt Life. These all form my bedtime reading so I'd hate to do without any of them. Good luck with your decisions.
