    bobbin tension

I'm using a different color in the bobbin but it keeps showing on the front. How do I fix it?

There are a couple of fixes depending on what you're using - try:
loosening the top tension - in small amounts until the thread tension is even
if you're using a heavier weight cotton loosen the bobbin tension - in small increments how you do this depends very much on your bobbin
head over to Superior for a very good explanation on tension:

Let me know if you're still having problems.

I know it's too late for this quilt, but another time if you are using two different colors you could try a thicker batting, (I like wool), because where the threads cross is more likely to happen inside the batting if the tensions are correct.

I use a lot of poly thread and it is thinner than the thicker cotton quilting threads, so I usually have to start out loosening the top tension and if need be I will tighten the bobbin tension to pull that top thread down. But, it will depend on your machine. When I adjust the bobbin tension it is on a mid arm quilting machine. I'm very careful about adjusting the bobbin on my Bernina as it is finicky and I had to buy a new bobbin case several years ago because I tried to use too thick of tread in it and over adjusted it. ops: After that it took me a while to become fearless in adjusting my mid arm machine, which is what I needed to be to get the correct tension.
