    Pot holder quilt

Has anybody made a pot holder quilt?
I am contemplating making one but have not found an awful lot of information online. I have found only a few blog posts in my search: and Marcus Fabrics even have a pattern but what I would really like to know is if anybody has tried this using a machine to join the blocks? Did you use a fagotting stitch and did it hold up to use?
    Thanks in advance

I have made a quilt in the potholder style, but I joined them by hand. I don't think it would be difficult to join by machine and would suggest you make up a mock block or two to try different machine stitches on them. Sample, sample, sample

Thank you for getting in touch Annette! I am going to test it and see if it will be possible and which stitch I have on my machine that works the best. How has your potholder quilt held up to wear and tear compared to other quilts you have made?

I have never heard of a "pot holder" quilt, I would be very interested in seeing what this would look like! Please post a picture or two when you can

A pot holder quilt is basically a quilt where each block is finished with a binding and the blocks are sewn together by hand using a ladder stitch or overcast stitch - a bit like you join hexagons or other shapes in English paper piecing. It is a kind of QAYG (quilt-as-you-go) but with smaller pieces.
I thought it would be a good way of joining some of the sample blocks I have gathered over the years that are of similar sizes but not quite ;-) and also a way of practising my FMQ on a small scale.
