Apliquick scissors and tweezers
Hi,
Has anyone used the Apliquick tweezers and scissors now available through the TQS store? I have lots of scissors of different sizes and am not sure if I really need more. I am intrigued by the 3 hold scissors. Also, any thoughts on the tweezers-those look like they are more for small to tiny work. thanks!!Tags: None

I have the 'normal' 2 hole scissors from apliquick, and love them, they feel really good quality in the hand. I bought them from Harrogate's Great Northern Quilt Show quite a few years ago. I didn't see the three hole ones then, or I would probably have given them a try. I can see that they would help with control whilst using them for cutting intricate shapes out. As for quantities of scissors, I have quite a few small pairs that live with different embroidery projects whilst the are on the go, but only you know how you work with your tools. Don't know anything about the tweezers though.

Not a definitive answer because I'm right-handed... however, I tried the Apliquick scissors with my left hand and they did not cut. I tried my Karen Kay Buckley scissors with my left hand (I usually use them with the right) and they did cut through the fabric with scissors in the left hand. So, I suspect the Apliquick scissors are designed for right-handed users.
I have both larger and small Apliquick scissors--easy to hold, serrated edge is nice too. Truth be told, you don't need the extra holes to hold the scissors the way it is demonstrated in the Apliquick demo: you can hold any pair of scissors that way (in fact, that is the way I first learned to hold scissors). I'm glad I purchased them and I do use them; in terms of the serrated blade, for me, they are comparable to my Karen Kay Buckley scissors.
I have the tweezers and really like them because you have a larger flat surface on the tweezers to hold with your thumb and finger (better leverage as you hold the fabric) and I also like the fact that the tweezers are much shorter than a regular pair of tweezers: they basically stay within the palm of your hand when you use them. Those two features make it much more comfortable for me to hold the tweezers.

Renata explained it perfectly! I have the scissors and the tweezers. LOVE the tweezers. Especially when paper piecing. The scissors are very sharp and make a nice cut. However being left handed I don't find them to be comfortable. I bought the Karen K Buckley scissors and prefer them. Same sharp cut and very comfortable to hold. Can't beat a padded finger hold.
