Wow! I haven't been on the forum for a while... Great rows everyone! This is such a fun event...

Jennifer: I.m glad you received it. I was wondering... it took less time for a row to get to England!

Yeah Dorothy hope you all have a wonderful visit with your family! I too love all the rows and trying new things I've not done before. We were in your area recently drove thru St. George on our way to Zion NP. What a beautiful place!

Oh my goodness you guys. The rain, thunder and lightening were intense last night so I didn't get much sleep. At 4:30 this morning the water was on my front porch, but the rain was slowing down. At 7:00 the water had receded, at 8:30 the power was on and I thought we had dodged a big bullet. There is flooding all around us, the creek is at the bottom of the bridges and still rising, so there is no where to go. What would any good quilter do? Head for the sewing room of course. When I walked in I thought the hard wood floors looked a little funny, then I noticed the water between the rolling chair mat and the floor. What is on the floor of the sewing room you might ask. Well, like any good fabric enthusiast there were the requisite stacks of fabric, a really nice basket with all of my clothing patterns (many of them vintage), some batting, and various other things. Needless to say DH and I have spent the last 3 hours getting stuff out, putting the wet fabric in the washer and cataloging the damage. It looks like I will need to replace the hardwood which will require completely emptying the entire room of 5 sewing machines, 1 floor to sealing shelving unit and the sewing machine tables and cabinets. What I'm trying to say is that the rows for the next couple of months may be a little delayed until I get the sewing room back together. Good thing is I believe in flood insurance and keep it up to date, the family is safe and none of my electronics were damaged.

Oh Brenda, I am sorry to hear of your swimming sewing room. Thank goodness it was just 'clean' water. That is when you discover the value of good old fashioned furniture that is made from real wood (hose it down, let it dry and then you can reuse - unlike chipboard & mdf .

Yikes Brenda - sorry to hear about your water damage! Anything else damaged or wet besides your sewing room?

Oh no, Brenda! I am so sorry. We are dry here, thank goodness. Our area was not badly hit at all.

If I can be of any help, let me know. I had such fun meeting you and your sister last week! (how did she fare in this?)

Thank goodness you keep your flood insurance up!

Oh dear, Brenda! Thank goodness for the flood insurance. My sympathy for all the clean-up work to be done, and gratitude that you are safe. Phew for the electronics I wish you clear skies, strength, and good humor! And you know that everyone still on your list will be patient. May the repairs go smoothly.
                      All the best,

So sorry to hear that. Thank goodness for insurance. It is still "trouble" however...

On Wednesday, my mini group (The Wednesday Wonders) is going to have a workshop in hand-dying fabric. (I think we will be using gel dyes.) I hope to be able to use my resulting masterpieces  in my rows for at least some of you, so please keep your fingers crossed. Unless you are sewing. Or cooking, or painting or anything for which you need straight fingers  ! (The dog in my new avatar is my sister-and-brother in law's dog. I visit just often enough that he misses me when I go home. (And vice versa.)
                          Love and light to all,

Oh my goodness! What a lot of work! Where do you live. Texas is having lots of flooding. Saw many rescues as I worked in my 2nd floor sewing room. No rain here. I am high and dry but I certainly feel for you. Hang in there and keep us posted. I guess all we can do is offer sympathy and give encouragement. Good luck with the clean up.
