count me in on row by row. I will check out the new thread. Thanks everyone for joining in. I have my HSt exchange quilt, my Whispers Across the Pond quilt, lots of very beautiful Mug Rugs and now I must also do this. I think it will both push me in new directions and also help me find my own path. Thanks everyone.

I definitely need the email to come to my yahoo address. And if you put

Row Robin in the subject line I'll be able to catch them quickly. Please check out what I need in that email by going to the Row Robin thread

        Thanks

I must say, I'm getting very excited about this rowed robin idea :cheer: I'm going to have to do some hard thinking this week to see if I can promise myself (and everyone else) that I can accomplish a row every month for a year (or more ;-) ). Perhaps I can convince my dear husband to take on some extra child watching duties on the weekends

And yes, my first name is Jennifer but my friends call me Jen. ;-). I was posting as I do on Facebook, and didn't even think to sign my posts. Poor manners. I will try to remember now!

Jen and others in a similar 'time' situation,

If you only want to be in for an every other month robin let me know over on the new thread. That way if more people would prefer an every other month, that's a minor adjustment to the process.

I haven't tallied all interested names, but I think we are under 12 at this point so our options are pretty open for participation.

Please do go to the new thread, make a short comment, and check the box so you'll get follow up messages.

            See you here and there,
            Luann

Same here! Wish we had done something like this with all the Whisphers Across the Pond group.

Sooo looking forward to doing the Row Robin with you!
Thank you Luann for making the decision to do 'just' the row and not the squares, as i would have had to participate in both...
 :P And probably ended up completely loopy :woohoo: :silly: :S

Yes - it definitely would be loopier...
But hey, gotta keep life interesting & FUN!

Example of loopy & enjoying life:

I'm working on getting our players and their themes into a list that I will put up on our new thread.
But today at the 'retreat' I put these little 1" HSTs into borders on my Primitive quilt. I adjusted the top and bottom borders because, well, something had to be different than the pattern!!
I stay stitched around the edges and I'll have to decide if I'm going to quilt this one by hand or not. With it being a primitive I have been thinking of doing it with pearl cotton and a large stitch in the sashing. Then adding embellishments, also known as junk from my ancestors, to the blocks for stability. Well, enough chatter about what I MIGHT do, here's what I've done

Now I'm off to get those emails replied to,,

Love that primitive piece, Luann! It looks really good!!

I mailed off the baby quilt, and the mom received it and LOVES it!!! yay!!!! It truly is my best work yet, although I had a realization --- thus far, I've said that about every quilt. And I realized --- that is good!! Means I really am learning as I go, improving, etc. yay!

That said, I haven't been over to the county fair yet to see if I managed a ribbon or not (I doubt it; my "personal best so far" still isn't quite show-level or ribbon level, even at a county fair I don't think). But realizing what I did, that I am improving, now it doesn't matter to me if I did or not

Then I have taken a break from quilting to (gulp!) sew garments -- pajamas -- for the Quiltapalooza PJ Party at Houston next month. I am NOT a garment maker, at all, but managed a kimono top (easy tutorial I found on-line) and a cross-over sleeveless (important part, that.....) top for the pjs, out of a very stubborn & difficult ruffled stretchy fabric. The ruffles really did not like going across the zig zag plate opening, at all, and kept wanting to get caught in the teeth. However, the top came out, fits me well, is comfortable, and doesn't look bad until you get close enough to see the messy "topstitching" :silly:

Kimono fabric is sheer with royal blue & turquoise/aqua, though it doesn't show well in this photo.

Up next, :gulp!: the pants......that will be started today and hopefully not take too long.....we shall see. Hopefully they fit as well as the top does when I'm done....

Quilting or garments, it's all sewing time, right?

yes, very true! Quilting is a million times easier (for me) but yes, time with my machine is lovely either way

The top looks great on you Heather. And with any luck the PJ's will be super simple too - one piece per leg sew up the inseam, sew up the crotch seam to join them, sew a channel around the waist to take some elastic to keep them up, hem, and 'bob's your uncle' all done easy peasy.
