La Passacaglia, EPP, and Grand Illusion

I'm not new to the site, but new to having time to read and post (retirement is a dream!!)
Not sure why the sidebar says new, I've been in and out since 2008, sometimes a subscriber sometimes not

I'm not finding any threads about Bonnie Hunter stuff (I think there is a quilt cam Wednesday night)
or her upcoming mystery Grand Illusion
Or english paper piecing/epp I'm working on La Passacaglia from this book

Am I just a square peg ? Sharyn

Hi Sharyn, We don't mind what shape peg you are, you are more than welcome to come & join in the chatter on this forum.

As to Bonnie Hunter stuff, quite a lot of us also follow her and occasionally we will refer to her scrapping advice or her mysteries but we don't particularly have a dedicated section to her (as yet) although she has been on a recent(ish) show.

For epp, I posted a blog post about how it can be used for more shapes than hexagons or geometric shapes, unfortunately we are now waiting for all the blog posts to catch up with the new site. As for that la Passacaglia quilt, it looks pretty amazing I look forward to seeing pictures of your work. Personally I am just starting the 1718 Coverlet and hope to paper piece a lot of it http://www.quiltmuseumshop.org.uk/

OOoooOOO that looks like a blast to make Rosemary.
Quilting has been my abiding passion for 40+ years. What I do now is make complicated quilts very slowly...
Are you familiar with Dr Annette Gero's book on antique Australian quilts and covers?
It is expensive but worth every penny.

      thanks for the response, Sharyn
Looking at your signature...I am the self proclaimed world's worst embroideryer...so the forum is now balanced

I've not heard of Dr Annette Gero, nor have I looked into antique Australian quilts and covers. I tend to concentrate on British history & historical needlework pieces. Will have to go & look it up when I get a minute. Although I did see the Raj Coverlet when it was at the V&A in 2010 - another amazing piece.

Here's my version of Bonnie's mystery quilt last year - Celtic Solstice. I would show you my hexagon quilt but all the photos are on a hard-drive as I just changed computers. I will have to take a new photo and post it.

Adding an attachment is so much quicker and easier than on the old site. :P

thank you for trying Reetz... I've only been able to see one photo on the board today.

I'll try one of one of the Bonnie Mysteries
humm, add file just makes a loop to the images on my computer
drop and drag went somewhere, but not here

hey...don't know how I did it but I can see it...Orca Bay
must be time to quit for the day.

                    thanks for the responses, Sharyn

Beautiful quilts, Sharyn! I love your color combinations!

I follow Bonnie's blog and plan to do this year's mystery, time permitting. She comes up with the coolest quilts! I was going to try to pick my own colors, but I love the colors she chose so much that I'm just going to go along with her. My quilt won't be very original, but I'm sure it'll be lovely (if/when it gets made)!!
