    "Newbie"

I am relatively new to quilting. I started two years ago with 3 baby quilts and finished a lap quilt just before my son was born (Nov, 2011). I'm ready to get back to this wonderful hobby. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the, "Two of Us" quilt. It's stunning. I'm worried that it may be out of my league, for now. I'm considering buying the kit for completion later. Here's my question: If I buy the kit now, does it have everything that I will need? Will I be able to save the classes on my computer?

    Thanks

    Hi Ms Newbie!

I don't know anything about the kit...... I DO know, that you download the class files to your computer, they are PDF files. You have to have them all downloaded before the end of 2013, because on Jan 1, 2014 they magically disappear! The instructions, any templates, fabric requirements, all are in the files. I just go in and grab them around the first of the month and put them in a folder on my computer (Quilt show BOM 2013) and they are there when I want them.

I've done two of the BOM's in the past, and they did stretch my abilities a lot

The BOM's do stretch your abilities, which is not always a bad thing  but there is lots of hand holding to help you along on the forum should you have any problems. Margo's classrooms for this year have been excellent, not only for the BoM but as techniques in general. I believe they have the quantities for the kit all sorted out now (there was a hiccup at the beginning of the year) so you shouldn't have any problems on that score.

Welcome to the forum, do join in the natter where ever you find us (Mug rugs exchange is open to all comers  http://forum/friendship-triangle-exc...yourself-style )

Hi Nancy, welcome to the forum. I agree with what has been said already. Just save all the files for each month in a folder on your desktop and you can start to work on the BOM anytime you choose. The discussion threads on the forum will probably cover any questions you have but we are all willing to help with any problems you might have along the way - even if it's after 2013. I have been working on Two of Us and yes it will stretch you - many of us chose to do paper piecing rather than the striplate method that Sue and Pat recommended. Margo did great demos for us which will stay in the classroom beyond 2013 as well.

Welcome to the forum Nancy. Stretching is good, unless it is exercise--then it is just boring. Anyway, what everyone has said. Oh, and the word "natter" I think means to join in on the craziness with us. I am sure those from over the pond will let me know if I have this wrong. They will probably say it means something like "talk" but if you go the the forum thread "mug rugs" you will see who is correct. LOL.

'Natter' to talk about anything and everything, usually gets interspersed with the 'official subject' of the thread. Can also be described as a good 'gossip' We also try to sort out translations of word usage, according to which side of the pond we live, which can be enlightening.

Nancy--the above is a perfect example of the "nattering" that goes on when we get started. LOL

Sometimes we have virtual parties, getting together via the TQS jet! Watch out for Wendy, she can't hold her drink.
And if we wait long enough, Rosemary will come up with some other irresistible exchange that will keep us busy for months! I think a new idea is already incubating in her at this very moment!

Oh - we do talk about quilting too!

Mug Rugs don't look as if they are going to wind down any time soon, which gives me a breather for ideas since I am next up for the Chinese Whispers competition quilt.
