You can do it Sue - go for it. My thinking is that a finished quilt done with straight stitching using my walking foot is better by far than an unfinished quilt folded away in a drawer or cupboard. And I like the look of straight or serpentine lines, or even zig-zag lines.

I've just watched show 213 with Mary Marshuto and Roberta Horton and in the segment at the end one of the sisters demonstrates how, after stitching in the ditch (probably ess) she then goes back and stitches patterns by pinning down cut paper templates and stitching around them with her walking foot - fmq is not compulsary if you don't want to do it.

I've used the technique. She uses freezor paper templates which can be used again and again and again. It 's great/1

I was doing a similar thing for my Sottts quilt only I used sandpaper for the template and no pins, with all those hst's it was easy to line the template up for each move

I made a jelly roll quilt for my son and when his fiancé saw it she want one just like it. I ask my guild for donations of fabrics, once it in gone from the store it is in everybody's stash. Made her the Cozy Quilts pattern called pirouette.

This is Log Cabin Hidden Stars it comes from the book Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam and Nicky Lintott . I found this fun to make it is fairly easy but as you can probably
tell I have come to a grinding halt with the quilting, I am such a coward when it comes to the quilting ops:

I love this quilt! I'm thinking that using a walking foot and quarter inch increments, this quilt could have some fab quilting just using straight lines, even playing off the points of the stars. The quilting points will come out deeper off the points that you might think. Blue painters tape can help align where you want to go, or just good old chalk pencil! Be brave, what's the worst that can happen? :lol: :lol:
