    Patterns when you are done

I have a pattern from a fairly challenging applique quilt that I have completed and no longer can use.

Being 'tight' I can't bear to throw it away, but can I donate it to my guild to either give or raffle away?

    No legalities involved?

Very interesting question. I never thought about it before. I know our library lends patterns books so wouldn't that be the same as giving it away to someone else to use?

I know ours does books too, and gives away pre-packed never before used patterns..........

Lynn, you can sell it as long as it is the original, printed pattern that you bought. Selling photocopies of patterns would be a copyright violation. Selling a pattern is just like selling a handful of old books, a couple of old golf clubs, your grown-up kids transformer toys, your grandmother's favourite teapot, etc.....

Thanks Lorchen. That makes it very clear. It is the original which I traced off and then put back in the package!

And I'm not selling. I'm GIVING! ha

I'd put it on the FREE Table at my quilt guild meetings.

Good idea. Just donate and get it out of the house! I'll never make another, even though I love the first one!
